One of Project MotiVATe’s goals is to ensure that all our mentees are able to attend college. Most of our students come from low-income households, so each year we award graduating seniors a $500 scholarship to recognize their achievements and to help with college costs. Your donation will ensure that these students can pursue their dreams of higher education. Our goal is to raise $2,500 by June 30th. No amount is too small! Give to our fund today.
This year, we have 5 OUTSTANDING seniors who deserve your support! Here are some of their stories:
Sabine has been a mentee for 5 years. She’ll attend community college next year and plans to transfer to California State University – Fullerton to study international business. She wants to find a job that will utilize her skills in working and communicating with different cultures.
“I am most proud of how much I have grown as an individual (e.g., performing for talent show and vocal ensemble when the mere thought of it used to terrify me). Project MotiVATe has guided me through every step of the way and helped shaped me into the person I am today.”
Angel has been a mentee for 3 1/2 years. She’s planning to attend Goldenwest College, then transfer to a 4-year college to study pre-med. She dreams of eventually becoming a registered nurse for the Navy.
“Project MotiVATe helped me to understand myself and figure out my self worth. I’ve learned that if I really set my mind towards things, I will be able to conquer anything. I found ways to cope with my stress so it wouldn’t constantly build up and cause me to want to quit school.”
Paul has been with PM since his freshman year. He’ll attend Cypress College next fall and wants to work in the health field.
“The accomplishments that I’m most proud of are increasing my GPA every year, playing in the football team, and earning the OCAPICA Scholarship. Project MotiVATe developed my leadership skills and helped me become a self-motivated individual.”
Phuoc has been a mentee for 2 years and wants to study psychology and communications in college.
“At Project MotiVATe, I learned how to step out of my shell and truly lead, not from behind the scenes but as one who helps and serves. PM taught me to value those I have around me, no matter the role they play in my life, because in the end the smallest person has impacted and shaped my life in the present and for sure in the future.”
Derek has been a mentee for 4 years and wants to study nursing at Cypress College.
“I figured out my identity and found a sense of purpose at Project MotiVATe. I’ve become a more compassionate and honest person. Through PM, I discovered my passion for healthcare and I hope to help others in the future.”
